Project MotherHOOD with Kerry Johnston

I'm a full time working mama raising Jones with his daddy, and just recently launched my own business www.thevitaminmbox.com

How do you define Motherhood?

The most precious, amazing job to have but terrifying at the same time. It's scary to love someone so much and to force yourself to not raise your child with whatever fears you may have

.

What are a few things you like to do that help you recharge your batteries?

I love spa days, spending time with friends, and VACATIONS!

Is there a Mother that has inspired your journey and if so, how?

My mother actually. She moved from Jamaica to New York in the middle of winter with a 2 yr old and raised me by herself. She has helped mold and shape me into the woman I am and I pray I am even half as much of a great mom as she is.

How has Motherhood inspired you?

Motherhood has inspired me to do better. Meaning. Being even more responsible financially and moving forward with my entrepreneurial endeavors because having a child means creating a legacy. I want to be able to pass on something to him when I go.

A must do for you when your energy is low.

I'm blessed enough to have my mother near me so she can watch Jones a little so both James and I can nap. I didn't realize how much I needed sleep until I became a mother! Lol

One of two: A note of compassion you want to offer a Mother reading this. Preferably something that might/could have been comforting to you at one point of time. OR Note to self.

All you can do is your best. Don't compare progression of your child to others because every child is different. And don't be down on yourself if you do happen to do a few of the "don't do's" ex. If you let your child sleep with you now and then or if your child isn't immediately in day care. It's ok. You know your child more than anything. And if it brings he/she comfort or helps you to sleep better at night (LOL) it's ok. Raising a child doesn't always have to go by the "textbook timeline".

Thank you Kerry!
